VP XVI – Tuesday Morning/ Afternoon

This morning I woke at 5:30 and checked outside. It didn’t look too pleasant so I skipped the morning walk. I’m beginning to regret my decision to work first and play later as the rest of the week is not looking so hot. I slept til 7 then went up to James MacDonald’s room where he was making pancakes w/ maple syrup and such. I hung out with the guys then went down to work on my short. Unfortunately I had a few beers last night and looking at my story now, I’m wondering how anyone could buy this.

At 9 we did our crit sessions and at 10:30 Debra did a lecture called “The sentence goes chunk”. We broke for lunch at 12 and I put another hour into my story. At 1:30 we regrouped and SS went over more prose. Finally Elizabeth Bear went over three act structure and hollywood formula which was very informative. I am now working on my short some more and have a meeting at 5 w/ Patrick Neilson Haden for my story which I am very much looking forward to. Tonight is Beer with Billy, which I shall report on later.
