Just finished the script. Sent it off to my illustrator.

Eagerly awaiting Wednesday to go over it. Now onto my WOTF Q2 entry and my next script.

One thing I discovered writing the script is that it really helps me visualize what is going on. I think it will become an integral part of all my compositions in the future as a matter of course.

I’m in the final scenes of my script.

These are the harder ones to put together as they need a rewrite. Emma pointed out to me that the end came too quickly. This is something that I wish someone had mentioned earlier. She was right and it is such an easy fix. My goal is still to complete the script tonight and get it to her so the sketching and inking can begin!

I spent a little time yesterday and got to about 50%. Now I’m on the downhill track. I wrote the direction for some scenes that should make Emma happy to draw. Now I’m on the trip to the village and the final climax. I’m hoping to get this done today before the strange zombie like illness that is sweeping my household gets to me. On the bright side, being a zombie might give me more time to plot out the next graphic novel so we’ll have two to sell at Comic Con in Boston. I just hope that I’m not overloading Emma as I think I’m asking for quite a bit.

I’m currently working with my illustrator on a graphic novel based upon my semi-finalist WOTF story. This is a new venture for me. I bought a book: Making Comics: Storytelling Secrets of Comics, Manga and Graphic Novels. Great book on style, basics of drawing, emotion, etc. I think it gave me lots of ideas for putting together a script. Now to see if Emma can translate my vision into reality.

ISBN’s

Just bought my block of ISBN’s. The only place to buy ISBN’s is through Bowkers.com. it’s $125 for 1. Ouch! you can get 10 for $250. OK, not as bad. 100 for $575. or 1K for $1K.

I needed more than 1, but less than 10. I could have gotten away with 10, but in reality, I plan to publish a lot more, so 100 seemed to be a good number. Self-pubbing isn’t cheap.

Boston Comic Con 2012

I submitted the paperwork for a booth at Comic Con 2012 in Boston. We are registered as Graveyard Shift Press, please stop by and visit. Emma Robinson, my illustrator and I will be there both days, and except for some geeking out walking around will be available for autographing the graphic novels we will be selling there.

The first release will be a revised version of my semi-finalist story from WOTF Q4 V28.

The second release that we hope to have ready by then is a YA zombie story (fun and fun).

I’m now a company. I’ve just registered a NH corporation: Graveyard Shift Press, LLC.

This is the imprint I’ll be using for my upcoming short story which will be sold as an ebook. It will be followed shortly thereafter by a graphic novel which is being illustrated by the very impressive artist Emma Robinson.

The company link will go live soon and please come visit us. I am also planning a physical print form of the comic which we will be selling at Boston Comic Con 2012 and hopefully Anime Boston 2012. If things shape up, we may go to NY Comic Con later in the year.

Q4 V28 Writers of the Future Results Announced

I’ve been so busy lately with work, home and writing that I’ve been a little out of date. However, I did want to post that today the Writers of the Future finalists and semi-finalists were announced.

You’ll note that I’m #2 (alphabetically) in the list of semi-finalists. Not too shabby for my first entrance in the contest.

I’ll be posting here soon regarding my endeavors with that story. I plan on releasing an ebook version with a few illustrations this month. Hot on the heels of that will be a graphic novel which I am collaborating on right now and should be done in about a month. I have some exciting news regarding my self publishing adventure which I will be posting soon.
