Hi Francis,
I don't know if you recall, but we chatted very briefly at the last night (for me) of OSC's writing workshop. I say for me, because I didn't sign up for the entire boot camp, just the first two days of lecture. I was sitting with Donovan and nikki at the restaurant in the hotel. It was pretty late, maybe 11 o'clock, and you came and said hi to us briefly.

You also told us about the story you were going to write for critiquing, which was about a mouse in a warehouse that stole office supplies and was trying to "free" his other mouse test subjects (or something like that). As you might recall, I LOVED that idea. I wanted to know if you were planning to do something beyond use it in boot camp, because I began writing my own version of the story. Not that I expect to actually succeed in publishing anything, but if my far-fetched dreamworld in which I am a published writer ever becomes a reality, I don't want to steal an idea from you that you want to work on. Anyway, point is - if you're planning on actually publishing that story please let me know, and I'll just privately have fun with it on my own. Amatuer courtesy (on my end, of course).

Hope your other writing efforts are going swimmingly! Feel free to respond to the email address I submitted with this post.

Sorry you didn't make the cut; I too got rejected (probably with the same form letter by the sound of it). But like you, I'm looking on the bright side. Instead of waiting for a few more months I can get back to polishing my novel and resuming my search for an agent. Good luck if you apply next year--and have fun at Uncle Orson's!

[...] Here one of my fellow Boot Campers this year has posted a list of Boot Camp accounts online, very useful for those who may want to read up on it all. http://www.francisbruno.com/getting-a-little-nervous/ [...]

Thanks for posting this, I followed your sig link from Hatrack. I think I might sign up in the future. Please come back and post your experiences. It looks from your bio you have MA connections. I live in MA, so shoot me an e-mail if you ever want to exchange SFF critique live or by e-mail.

Incidentally, I signed up for this last year, but it was cancelled, hoping it will happen this year, you might consider attending. Mr. Carver told me to ping him later in the summer.
